Employees at Procore Technologies have the opportunity to transform an industry while transforming their careers. Luckily, I get to have an impact on the career transformations that take place here. As the senior facilitator of leadership and talent development, my TAG team - the talent activation and growth team - is dedicated to activating employee potential through growth opportunities that fuel individual and company success.
Most organizations have a few different resources for employees to leverage for their growth needs, such as career and professional development programs, which offer resources like on-demand skill building, workshops and internal mentoring programs.
Internal Career Resources For All Stages of Your Journey
Procore supports employees with programming that runs through various stages of an employee’s journey. There are a few impactful programs in particular that have helped me and many others. The first is Procore’s LinkedIn Learning membership, where employees can take courses on skills they want to improve upon. Another is a program through our career development team that pairs instructor-led workshops with handpicked LinkedIn Learning courses for what we call skill “sprints.”
The last, and perhaps one of the most important resources, is our Get To Know You (GTKY) program, where you can schedule a meeting with anyone in the company to learn more about their work and role. This could be an excellent opportunity to make new connections and potentially explore new roles or teams.
Career Advancement Is Your Responsibility
Your career advancement is your responsibility. When you work for an organization like Procore, which offers robust career and professional development resources, you are empowered to own your career. One of the first steps you can take is to speak with your manager and learn about your company’s internal mobility process. Ask them about resources and for guidance; together, your manager can help you create a plan of action and identify where you can tap into available resources. Another step is to research your organization’s benefits when it comes to both career and professional development.
There may be pre-existing programs for you to leverage - like a company LinkedIn Learning membership. You can also reach out to the people in your organization who are leading career development programs to find ways to stay connected.
My job at Procore is more than just a job; it’s my career. It allows me to do something I am passionate about. I love being a force multiplier. My role helps me meet people and leaders where they are to help them get where they want to go. I love being a positive enabler for people’s potential and performance to thrive in any setting. Procore truly believes in every employee’s success, and I’m grateful to be a part of helping people achieve their goals.
My parting words: There is no time like the present to start your career development journey. I’ll share the acronym N.O.W., which stands for No Opportunities Wasted. Take every opportunity that comes your way, including the ones here at Procore!
