We’re looking for a Software Engineer 1 to join Procore’s Resource Management organization. In this role, you’ll contribute to building and enhancing backend microservices using Java with Spring Boot, while also supporting modern web applications using React. Your primary goal will be to deliver high-quality, well-tested backend features while developing your technical skills under the guidance of experienced engineers.

This position reports into Sr. Engineering Manager  and will be based in our Bangalore, India office. We’re looking for someone to join us immediately.

What you’ll do:

• Contribute as a hands-on member of the backend team by delivering assigned tasks that support team goals.

• Independently complete well-scoped, routine tickets in areas of familiarity.

• Collaborate with senior engineers on more complex initiatives to expand technical expertise and professional skills.

• Investigate new problem areas, identify potential solutions, and seek guidance when appropriate.

• Design, develop, and maintain backend microservices using Java with Spring Boot, ensuring reliability, scalability, and performance.

• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code using modern backend technologies.

• Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback to improve code quality and consistency.

• Support teammates by taking ownership of routine work and assisting with team-level tasks as needed.

• Support frontend development using React for building and enhancing UI features when needed.

What we’re looking for:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, completion of a coding bootcamp, or equivalent practical experience.

• 0–2 years of professional software development experience, including internships, academic projects, or relevant hands-on work.

• Proficiency in Java with Spring Boot, with hands-on experience building backend microservices.

• Basic knowledge of CI/CD tools such as CircleCI (or equivalent). Basic understanding of AWS and familiarity with deployment processes.

• Working knowledge of React, Typescript for frontend support is a plus. Foundational understanding of Progress DB and RDBMS concepts, including basic querying .

• Familiarity with microservice architecture patterns, REST APIs, and basic system design concepts.

• Familiarity with modern backend development tools and source control systems such as Git. Understanding of core application development principles, including unit testing, debugging, and basic algorithmic complexity.

• Ability to quickly learn new technologies, tools, and frameworks and effectively apply feedback to improve performance. Strong communication skills, a collaborative team mindset, and a demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
