We’re looking for a Staff Product Designer to join Procore’s Product & Technology Team. Procore software solutions aim to improve the lives of everyone in construction, and the Flex Design Team is the strategic engine that ensures we are building the right things, the right way, even in our most untapped or complex areas.
In this Staff-level role, you won't be tethered to a single product pillar. Instead, you will be a strategic lead practitioner within our Flex Team (like an internal design agency). You are a consultative pioneer: a world-class designer who possesses a strategic edge and the ability to ramp up in new domains in record time. You are accountable for driving speed to clarity across the platform, using your craft to visualize the future, de-risk "0 to 1" big bets, and bridge the fragmented end-to-end experiences that span our product pillars.
This role provides a unique horizontal vantage point across the entire Procore ecosystem. We’re looking for a designer who finds energy in variety and possesses the craft depth to model what excellence looks like across the entire platform. This position reports directly to the Head of Design and will be based in our Austin, TX office. Apply today to join our team of Groundbreakers!
What you’ll do:
The Staff Product Designer operates as a force multiplier who balances high-level strategy with excellence in execution. While you do not have direct reports, you lead through the work: mentoring others by modeling excellence, creating systemic leverage, and ensuring our biggest bets are grounded in customer reality.
1. Pioneer New Frontiers
Drive "Big Bet" Clarity: You lead the design for our most ambiguous 0-to-1 initiatives. You translate abstract business goals into tangible north star vignettes and prototypes, helping leadership make high-stakes "Go/No-Go" decisions before significant engineering resources are committed.
Master of Consultative Discovery: You have a "Day 1" process for entering new domains. You synthesize complex information quickly, identifying the most critical user needs and technical constraints to establish a strategic baseline in weeks, not months.
Articulate Business Value: You don't just design features; you design for outcomes. You partner with Product and Engineering leadership to articulate how your work impacts business KPIs like retention, expansion, and ROI.
2. Bridge the Connective Tissue
Solve for the Horizontal: You identify and fix the connective tissue of the platform. You lead the design of systemic experiences that span multiple product pillars, ensuring the Procore ecosystem feels like a unified, cohesive system rather than a collection of siloed tools.
Systems-Thinking at Scale: You are a steward of our Design System. You don't just use components; you identify where the system is breaking and work with the systems team to harden it for everyone.
Model High-Velocity Craft: You are in the files modeling world-class execution. You use AI and modern tooling to explore more ideas in less time, setting the standard for how we move fast without sacrificing the strategic integrity of the work.
3. Elevate Through the Work
Lead with Strategic Presence: You act as a mentor and coach to all designers, elevating the craft of the team. You have the executive presence and authority to represent design in front of P&T leadership, ensuring the strategic vision is clearly articulated and understood at the highest levels of the organization.
Orchestrate the Foundations: When not deployed to a product pillar, you lead high-impact projects “On the Bench." You architect the internal tools, frameworks, and playbooks that improve efficiency and organizational maturity for the entire Procore Design team.
Master the Handoff: You understand that documentation is design. You leave every project better than you found it, creating the handoffs and playbooks that ensure long-term success for the teams that inherit your work.
What we’re looking for:
We are looking for a senior practitioner who thrives in variety and possesses a strong strategic edge delivered through deep craft.
You Are a Strong Designer First: You bring deep craft expertise and sound judgment. You are a master of the tools (Figma) and the "how," but you are always anchored to the "why."
You Are a Strategic Generalist: You love the ramp-up phase. You find it exciting to move between different domains and can quickly master new construction workflows, terminology, and customer realities.
You Are Business Fluent: You understand how SaaS products succeed. You can articulate design decisions in terms of customer value, roadmap velocity, and commercial impact.
You Value Speed to Clarity: You recognize that the best design outcome is often a "No-Go" decision based on rapid validation. You value impact over perfection and learning over dogma.
Requirements:
Experience: 7+ years in Product Design with a track record of leading complex, cross-cutting initiatives on B2B or enterprise products.
Portfolio: Demonstrated end-to-end ownership of complex systems. We care about how your strategic thinking, and your execution, changed outcomes for users and the business.
Research Rigor: Deeply curious about human behavior, with a track record of using qualitative and quantitative insights to guide high-stakes design decisions.
Tooling: Expert in Figma. Experience using AI and modern design tools to accelerate the discovery and exploration process is required.
Communication: Excellent storytelling skills, with a proven ability to present vision and strategy to executive leadership.
Why Join This Team?
Design is a strategic priority for every team at Procore, but the Flex Team offers a unique career path for those who thrive on horizontal impact and variety. While our embedded designers are the master architects of our core domains, owning the deep complexity and long-term legacy of a specific pillar, the Flex Team is for the strategic generalist. In this role, your domain is the entire platform. If you are a Design Leader who finds energy in the ramp-up, who loves the thrill of the unsolved, and who enjoys the consultative challenge of building trust across different groups, the Flex model is your playground.
