We’re looking for a Software Engineer I to join Procore’s Procore Connect team. This team plays a key role in enhancing collaboration between Procore customers by building scalable, high-impact solutions across our platform. In this role, you’ll contribute to developing and improving our main offering, Cornerstone, while gaining hands-on experience across the stack. You’ll help build reusable, reliable components that support platform-wide updates and improve the developer experience.
As a Software Engineer I, you’ll partner with senior engineers, product managers, and UX designers to implement high-quality features, support cross-team initiatives, and learn how scalable platform systems are built. Use your curiosity, foundational engineering skills, and willingness to learn to deliver meaningful improvements and grow your technical capabilities. This position reports to an Engineering Manager and will be based in our Cairo, Egypt office. We’re looking for someone to join us immediately.
What you’ll do:
Contribute to developing platform capabilities that support collaboration between Procore customers while learning best practices in scalability and performance.
Support platform-wide initiatives by implementing components and features that enable consistent updates across Cornerstone.
Work across the stack using Rails, Java, Flink, Kafka, and React, writing clean, maintainable code under guidance from senior engineers.
Improve system extensibility by building reusable components and participating in early design discussions.
Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and UX to deliver features that support multiple teams and use cases.
Build and maintain APIs and data flows that support real-time collaboration scenarios.
Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging to ensure high-quality software delivery and learn from peers.
Assist in integrating domain team services and capabilities into the Procore Connect ecosystem, following established patterns to ensure smooth onboarding and consistent cross-domain interactions.
What we’re looking for:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
1+ year of experience with software engineering fundamentals and coding in languages such as Ruby on Rails, Java, and Javascript.
Familiarity with backend or frontend frameworks; experience with Rails or React is a plus.
Interest in distributed systems and event-driven architectures; exposure to Kafka or Flink is a plus.
Strong desire to learn, improve, and work on scalable platform systems.
Solid problem-solving skills and an eagerness to understand how large applications evolve.
A collaborative mindset with the ability to work well across teams and seek guidance when needed.
A growth-oriented approach and willingness to take on new challenges while developing technical depth over time.
