Where you start doesn’t define where you go. At Procore Technologies, we mean that both in terms of job position and geographic location. Tas, a senior manager on our customer support team, is one employee who jumped at the chance to pack her bags and take on new challenges abroad.
Tas has always been a traveler. She moved from Canada in 2020 to kick off her career at Procore in the US as a customer support manager at our Willmar, MN office. As her career has progressed there, she was able to take advantage of our company's growth, both within the US and globally. She took a 6-month assignment to help build out a customer support team in our Tampa office and is currently living in Dublin, Ireland, doing the same thing.
“I really focused on expanding my network the whole time I’ve been at Procore. Getting to know people across many teams and at many levels has meant that I know where to go and who to talk to when I see opportunities come up that I want to chase. When I saw the opportunity to help build out our customer support team in Dublin, I was on it. The role started in London, UK, where I spent a year helping to get things in motion, and now I’m in Dublin, literally building up the team around me.”
Tas’s track record at Procore helped her land this international role. “I had just been through the experience of setting up a new team in Tampa. Leadership already knew I liked to travel and was happy to work just about anywhere. I think that the appeal for them in choosing me was that I already have an understanding of how Procore works in the US, so I am able to help our Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) team as they scale up.”
Her experience in Dublin has been nothing short of fantastic. “The people here are so welcoming and open. They will tell me all about their roles, what they are doing and even what their life is like outside of work. It’s so refreshing; it’s very much the culture of Procore, but it’s also very natural to everyone on the team. Overall, culturally, they are very different from Americans, but it’s hard to pinpoint, as it’s all little things. Their sense of humor is definitely different, and I love it!”
Was there something else that attracted Tas to relocate to the UK? Yes! She was in a long-distance relationship with her partner, who was himself living in London. “We went from seeing each other maybe four times a year to being able to spend just about every weekend together. Being here has made our relationship so much stronger. We’re actually engaged now!”
Working at a global company like Procore can mean that your career growth opportunities can also be career adventures. Term assignments like the ones that Tas has been able to work on have given her the opportunity to travel and see more of the world. A career path at Procore is not limited to where you start; it’s about where you’re willing to go.
