Job Description

Put your technology skills to use to help support a product that impacts the way communities’ hospitals, homes, sports stadiums, and schools are built. Construction impacts the lives of nearly everyone in the world, and yet it’s also one of the world’s least digitized industries. That’s why we’re looking for talented Incident Coordinators/Resilience Engineers to embark on Procore’s journey to revolutionize a historically underserved industry.

As an Incident Coordinator/Site Reliability Engineer,  you’ll help ensure we respond to problems and build understanding of our changing systems, adapting to surprises and unexpected challenges. You will focus on reducing the impact incidents have on the business and our customers. You will  find opportunities to continuously build on best practices and clarify areas of ambiguity in our processes. You will also work collaboratively with our Customer Success and Product Support Engineering partners to keep teams aligned, enabling our entire organization to continually improve our systems, processes  and services.

This position will report to an SRE Manager on our Incident Management and Resilience Engineering team, with the opportunity to be located in our Carpinteria, CA headquarters, New York City, or Austin, TX office. Remote candidates will be considered based on experience with the expectation of occasional travel to these offices.

Backed by the might of our teams, you’ll have the tools and resources needed to achieve extraordinary results that have a significant impact. This impact will extend beyond the boundaries of traditional engineering roles. If you’re strong technically, with the ability to build deep knowledge of a product and how it functions and fails, we have a spot for you on our team.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead incident response efforts and handling for Engineering teams

  • Partner with the Incident Management and Resilience Engineering team to develop a long term vision for building out a global 24/7/365 incident command center (think: NOC for cloud based systems)

  • Work with engineering teams to develop and refine runbooks for incident scenarios. This work will inform automation efforts in some cases, and in others will be executed by the core team to standardize and improve incident responses (time to identify, mitigate and resolve problems)

  • Run incident retrospectives with a focus on generative outcomes

  • Ensure the integrity of data collected in incidents is accurate

  • Author and Publish Incident Reports for higher severity incidents

  • Function as a communications lead by capturing impact summaries and posting customer communications on our status page

  • Work with the Incident management team directly to improve processes and pilot changes to processes and disseminate them throughout the engineering and CS organizations

What we're looking for:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred, or comparable work experience

  • Strong analytical and technical skills

  • 4+ years of professional work experience in a technology role or incident management role; Software Engineering, Systems, Operation, Product Support, SRE, or similar position

  • Track record of digging in and learning as well as troubleshooting to overcome technical problems

  • Familiarity with Github to onboard other Engineering Teams to various Incident Management tools and services

  • Excellent verbal, visual, and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate to different levels of the organization and technical and non-technical audiences

  • Interest in both how humans work together, and the software services we provide our customers (e.g. facilitation, negotiation, project management)

  • Comfortable investigating and collaborating ambiguous and complex distributed systems to improve clarity

  • Ability to analyze and present incident and retrospective data with relevant context
