People Team | Location - Austin, TX

At Procore, we’re driving construction to a new era of innovation. Our cloud-based platform connects every person, application, and device, empowering construction professionals worldwide to build smarter. Our People Analytics team plays a crucial role in this mission by providing the data-driven insights that shape our people strategies and foster a thriving, high-performing culture.

We're looking for a People Data Scientist to join our dynamic People Analytics team. This is a critical role designed to help solve Procore's most complex people problems through advanced data analysis, statistical modeling, and machine learning. You’ll be a strategic thinker and a proactive problem-solver, transforming data into compelling narratives and actionable solutions that enhance the employee experience and drive business outcomes.

A key area of impact will be your close partnership with our Talent Acquisition team. You'll move beyond traditional reporting to build predictive models and uncover deep insights that optimize our hiring strategies, improve quality of hire, and help us win top talent in a competitive market.

This position will report to the Director, People Analytics. We're looking for someone to join our team immediately.

What you'll do:

  • Partner with HR leaders, business stakeholders, and peers in the People Analytics team to translate complex people challenges into data science projects and testable hypotheses.

  • Conduct advanced data analysis using leading statistical methods and predictive modeling to identify trends, uncover insights, and make recommendations across the employee lifecycle.

  • Apply your expertise to key strategic areas, including a close partnership with Talent Acquisition to build models that inform our hiring strategy, from top-of-funnel optimization to quality-of-hire analysis.

  • Investigate trends that pose risks to business outcomes or the employee experience, identify behavioral patterns, systematically flag outliers and use data to propose solutions that will raise the bar for all things people-related.

  • Communicate complex statistical analyses, results, and implications to both technical and non-technical audiences, collaborating with key COEs to intake and manage stakeholder requests.

  • Research and implement new technologies and methods across data science, data engineering, and data visualization to continuously improve the team's technical capabilities.

  • Demonstrate exceptional judgment and discretion when dealing with highly sensitive people data, acting as a steward for data ethics.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including HRIS, IT, and Finance, to ensure data availability, accuracy, and alignment for analysis.

What we're looking for:

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in a data science or people analytics role with a strong focus on applying data science to people-related data.

  • Proven experience applying advanced statistical methods (e.g., multivariate regression, longitudinal analysis, classification, clustering, NLP) to solve complex business problems.

  • Strong technical proficiency with a programming language for large-scale analysis (like Python or R) and using SQL to query relational databases.

  • Experience in the end-to-end development of machine learning models, from training to production, using both structured and unstructured data.

  • Demonstrated experience or strong interest in applying data science to Talent Acquisition challenges, such as hiring funnel optimization, candidate experience analysis, or predictive workforce planning.

  • Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and compelling narratives for diverse audiences.

  • A strategic and consultative mindset, with the ability to proactively identify opportunities, frame business questions, and manage projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience using platforms such as Workday Reporting and Analytics, Workday Prism, and Databricks.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent experience.
